AB-730 Sample Questions With Answers

About these questions

These five questions are original. We wrote them to match the style of the AB-730 skills measured as of October 20, 2026, with at least one question for each of the four domains. They are not real exam questions, and the real exam will word things differently. Microsoft Copilot changes quickly, so check any feature detail against Microsoft’s documentation before you rely on it.

How to use these

Try each question without looking at your notes, and pick an answer before you open the explanation. Then read the explanation even when you were right, because the reason the closest wrong option fails is where the learning is. Write down any domain where you slipped and revisit it on the domains explained page.

Question 1 (Understand generative AI fundamentals)

Priya works in sales. She asks Microsoft 365 Copilot to summarize a budget workbook that sits on the finance team’s site. She has never been given access to that site. A colleague says Copilot can see everything in the company, so it will surely return a summary. What is the most accurate outcome?

  • A. Copilot summarizes the workbook, because it runs with service-level access to all company files.
  • B. Copilot summarizes the workbook but hides the numbers.
  • C. Copilot does not use the workbook, because it only accesses content Priya is already authorized to see.
  • D. Copilot asks the finance team for approval and then summarizes the workbook.
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: C. Microsoft states that Copilot only accesses content a user is authorized to access and does not grant access to additional organizational content. Priya has no permission to the finance site, so the workbook is not available to her prompt. Option A is the closest wrong answer because it describes the common worry that Copilot sees everything, but it respects existing Microsoft 365 permissions instead. Options B and D describe behaviors that do not exist: there is no partial hiding of numbers and no approval request to another team.

Question 2 (Manage prompts and chats by using Microsoft 365 Copilot)

A procurement lead wants Copilot to compare four suppliers on cost, delivery risk and contract terms, and to recommend one with its reasoning. She wants Copilot to make a plan, gather the relevant context and check its own work before it answers. Which option in the Copilot Chat model selector fits best?

  • A. Quick response
  • B. Think deeper
  • C. Share the prompt with her team
  • D. Schedule the prompt to run weekly
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. Microsoft describes Think deeper as using a deeper reasoning model that takes its time to craft a plan, gather and understand the relevant context, and check its work before answering. That matches a multi-criteria comparison with a recommendation. Quick response is the closest wrong option. It prioritizes speed for common or routine questions, which is the opposite of what she asks for. Sharing and scheduling a prompt change who can use it or when it runs, not how Copilot reasons about it.

Question 3 (Manage business content and collaboration by using Microsoft 365 Copilot)

During a Teams workshop, Dana opens Copilot in Teams and privately asks for a summary of what she missed. A minute later, Luis types “@Facilitator add budget to the agenda” in the meeting chat. Who can see each of these two interactions?

  • A. Both are visible to everyone in the meeting.
  • B. Both are visible only to the person who made the request.
  • C. Dana’s request is visible to everyone; Luis’s request is private.
  • D. Luis’s request and Facilitator’s reply are visible to everyone; Dana’s exchange with Copilot is private.
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: D. Microsoft’s Facilitator documentation says that prompts and replies in Copilot in Teams are private to the individual user. Facilitator acts like an assistant sitting in the meeting, so when someone prompts it, everyone can see the exchange, like a message in the meeting chat. Option B is the closest wrong answer because it is true for Copilot but not for Facilitator. Options A and C each get one of the two behaviors backwards.

Question 4 (Drive business outcomes by using agents)

Maya has two jobs. First, she needs a three-sentence reply to a customer email in the next minute. Second, she wants someone to clean up her inbox and calendar and prepare a project kickoff across several apps over the next hour. Which choice best matches how Microsoft describes Copilot Chat and Copilot Cowork?

  • A. Copilot Chat for the reply, Copilot Cowork for the cleanup and kickoff preparation
  • B. Copilot Cowork for the reply, Copilot Chat for the cleanup and kickoff preparation
  • C. Copilot Chat for both jobs
  • D. Copilot Cowork for both jobs
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. Microsoft’s Cowork FAQ describes Copilot Chat as fast, focused support for single-step, single-session work, such as a quick draft. It describes Cowork as agentic AI that completes multistep work across apps, files and data, taking minutes to hours. The reply fits Chat and the cleanup and kickoff fit Cowork. Option D is the closest wrong answer, since Cowork could technically do a reply, but it is built for longer multistep work and would be an awkward tool for a one-minute draft. Option B reverses the roles, and option C leaves a multi-app, hour-long job to a single-session tool.

Question 5 (Drive business outcomes by using agents)

A team lead is learning the limits of Microsoft Copilot Cowork. Which two things does Microsoft list as things Cowork cannot do? Choose two.

  • A. Edit an existing Word file that is stored in OneDrive
  • B. Delete a folder in SharePoint
  • C. Show an approval prompt before posting a message in Teams
  • D. Open and edit a file that is stored only on the local drive of her laptop
  • E. Run a prompt on a recurring schedule
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answers: B and D. Microsoft’s Cowork FAQ lists these known limitations: Cowork cannot access or edit files stored locally on your device, because it works with files in OneDrive and SharePoint, and it cannot delete files or folders in OneDrive or SharePoint. The other three are things Cowork does. It can edit existing Office files in OneDrive or SharePoint once you approve edit access, it shows an approval prompt before sensitive actions such as posting in Teams, and it supports scheduled prompts. The closest wrong option is A, since “files in OneDrive” can sound risky, but editing is supported.
