AB-730 Cheat Sheet: Key Facts to Review

How to use this sheet

This sheet is a last-pass review in our own words. It follows Microsoft’s “Skills measured as of October 20, 2026” and does not claim to cover everything on the exam, because Microsoft says related topics may appear. Read it after you have used Copilot and studied the domains explained guide. Facts were checked on Microsoft Learn on October 22, 2026.

Domain 1: Generative AI fundamentals

Key concepts

  • Copilot only reaches content you are already allowed to open. It does not widen access.
  • Context changes answers: Work IQ (your mail, meetings, chats and files), web data, and the app you are in.
  • Risks: inaccurate output, prompt injection, over-reliance. Matching checks: verify citations, apply human review, keep sensitive data out of prompts.
  • Data protection settings, such as sensitivity labels, can limit what a prompt returns.

Easily confused pairs

  • Copilot Chat is for quick, single-session help. Cowork is for multistep work across apps.
  • Copilot Chat without the add-on license is mostly web grounded. The licensed experience adds broad organizational grounding through Work IQ.
  • An inaccurate answer is a model problem. Prompt injection is an attack hidden in content the model reads.

Decision rules

  • If the scenario says a user cannot see a file, think permissions: Copilot cannot either.
  • If the scenario involves a high-stakes decision, think verification and human review.
  • If the scenario asks which experience fits, match the size of the task: a quick draft means Chat, a long multi-app task means Cowork or an agent.

Domain 2: Prompts and chats

Key concepts

  • A good prompt states the task, gives context, names the sources to use and says what format you want.
  • Model choice: Auto lets Copilot pick, Quick response favors speed, Think deeper suits complex questions.
  • You can save, schedule and share prompts, and refine them after reading a response.
  • Memory and instructions shape how Copilot responds across chats.
  • Chats can be found, renamed and deleted. Notebooks organize and share related information.

Easily confused pairs

  • Saving a prompt is for reuse. Scheduling a prompt is for running it at a set time.
  • A chat is a conversation. A Notebook gathers material around a topic.
  • Instructions describe how you want Copilot to behave. A prompt is the task right now.

Decision rules

  • If the first answer is weak, refine the prompt before switching tools.
  • If the question is simple and routine, think Quick response. If it needs reasoning across several points, think Think deeper.

Domain 3: Business content and collaboration

Key concepts

  • Connectors bring in sources beyond Microsoft 365.
  • Copilot can draft or analyze across Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and can generate images, visuals and charts.
  • You must check that generated content meets the business goal and is correct.
  • Meetings: prepare before, use real-time catch-up if you join late, use Intelligent recap afterward, and use Facilitator for a shared assistant.
  • Copilot Pages is a place to collaborate on content.

Easily confused pairs

  • Copilot in Teams is private to the person asking. Facilitator answers in the meeting where everyone can see.
  • Real-time catch-up helps during the meeting. Intelligent recap helps afterward.
  • A connector adds a data source. A prompt reference points to something you already have.

Decision rules

  • If the scenario says “the whole team should see it”, think Facilitator or a shared Page.
  • If it says “I missed the first ten minutes”, think real-time catch-up.
  • If it says “summarize what was decided after the call”, think Intelligent recap.

Domain 4: Agents and Cowork

Key concepts

  • Prebuilt agents can improve a workflow without building anything. You may filter chats by agent.
  • Choose a prebuilt agent when it fits; consider a custom agent when it does not.
  • Cowork carries out multistep tasks: it plans, uses skills, shows progress, and asks approval before sensitive actions such as sending email.
  • Skills can be prebuilt or custom. Microsoft does not validate custom skills, so review their output.
  • Cowork can run scheduled prompts and event-driven tasks. By default, event-driven tasks prepare actions for your approval.

Known Cowork limits to remember

  • It cannot work on files stored only on your device, because it uses OneDrive and SharePoint.
  • It cannot delete files or folders in OneDrive or SharePoint.
  • It cannot read encrypted files.
  • Education: faculty and staff can use it; students are not eligible at this time.

Decision rules

  • If the scenario needs an action across mail, calendar and documents, think Cowork.
  • If it says “check the plan first”, think reviewing Cowork’s plan, progress and results.
  • If a task needs deleting files, Cowork is the wrong tool.

Common traps

  1. Picking the most powerful tool when a simpler one fits the stated need.
  2. Forgetting that permissions still apply, even to AI.
  3. Mixing up private (Copilot in Teams) and shared (Facilitator) answers.
  4. Studying removed topics. Microsoft removed creating and managing your own Copilot agents from the English exam on October 20, 2026.
  5. Treating a feature in preview as available everywhere. Microsoft says most questions cover generally available features.

Last-day checklist

  • Say the four domains and their weightings out loud without notes.
  • Explain Chat versus Cowork in two sentences.
  • Explain Copilot in Teams versus Facilitator in two sentences.
  • List three AI risks and a check for each.
  • Name two Cowork limits.
  • Reread the notes file of your past mistakes.
  • Check your ID, booking time and equipment.
  • Sleep.
