AB-730 AI Business Professional: 5 Practice Tests 2026
500 questions on Copilot prompts, Work IQ, meetings, prebuilt agents and Copilot Cowork, with an explanation per answer
Are you ready for AB-730, or do you just feel ready? After a few weeks with Microsoft 365 Copilot most people know their way around the chat box. The exam asks more: which Copilot experience fits a task, what happens to your data, how a prompt is saved or scheduled, what a prebuilt agent can and cannot do, and when to hand a whole job to Copilot Cowork.
This practice set contains five full practice exams of 100 questions each: 500 questions in total, written for the AB-730 skills measured as of October 20, 2026.
That date matters. On October 20, 2026 Microsoft rewrote the AB-730 outline. Creating and configuring your own custom agents was removed. A new domain, Drive business outcomes by using agents, now covers prebuilt agents and Microsoft Copilot Cowork, and topics such as Work IQ, connectors, model selection, Notebooks, the Facilitator agent, real-time catch-up and Intelligent recap moved into the exam. Practice material written for the earlier outline spends much of its time on content that is no longer tested and misses a quarter of what is. If you sit the exam before October 20, 2026, check on Microsoft Learn which outline applies to your date.
The five tests build up step by step:
– Test 1, Groundwork: direct questions on one concept each.
- Test 2, In Practice: short workplace scenarios that separate features people confuse.
- Test 3, Trade-offs: two answers look right and one condition decides.
- Test 4, Under the Hood: exact behavior, settings and prerequisites.
- Test 5, Exam Day: long multi-condition scenarios, the full simulation.
Every answer option has its own explanation, so you learn why a wrong option is wrong and what it actually does. Every question also has a general explanation with a link to the official Microsoft documentation, so you can check the source yourself.
All five tests use the same four domains in the same proportions as the official weighting, so the domain report after each attempt shows exactly where to focus. The pass mark is 80% for tests 1 to 4 and 85% for test 5, deliberately higher than the real exam.
What this practice set is not: a video course, a collection of real exam questions, or a replacement for Microsoft's free training. It is a set of practice exams that tests you, explains every answer and points you to the source.
Groundwork: Copilot, Prompts, Meetings and Agents Basics
100 questions · 165 minutes · pass mark 80%
Start here, before you study anything else. This first test covers all four AB-730 domains with direct, one-concept questions: how Microsoft 365 Copilot keeps your data private, what Work IQ is, how to save, schedule and share prompts, what Intelligent recap and Copilot Pages do, and when Researcher, Analyst or Microsoft Copilot Cowork is the right tool. 100 questions, 12 of them multiple-select, 165 minutes. The pass mark is 80%, deliberately higher than the real exam: the questions here are shorter and more direct than Microsoft's, so a comfortable margin is the only honest signal that the basics are in place. Use the domain report at the end to see where you start.
In Practice: Everyday Copilot and Cowork Scenarios
100 questions · 165 minutes · pass mark 80%
Test 2 moves from definitions to the workplace. Each question is a short scenario from a normal working week: a manager preparing for a meeting, a sales team sharing a prompt, a colleague who joined a call late, a report that needs a chart. Most questions ask you to tell apart features that are easy to confuse, such as sharing a Copilot Page versus sharing a chat, real-time catch-up versus Intelligent recap, or Copilot Chat versus Researcher. 100 questions, 14 multiple-select, 165 minutes, pass mark 80%. Read every explanation, including the ones for questions you got right.
Trade-offs: When Two Copilot Answers Look Right
100 questions · 170 minutes · pass mark 80%
In this test two answers usually look right. One condition in the scenario decides: a missing license, sensitive data, who needs access, web versus work grounding, a one-off task versus a recurring one, or whether the other person works outside your organization. The questions are longer and reward careful reading more than memory. 100 questions, 14 multiple-select, 170 minutes, pass mark 80%. If your score drops here compared with test 2, that is normal; the explanations show which detail in the question should have tipped the balance.
Under the Hood: Settings, Limits and Exact Behavior
100 questions · 145 minutes · pass mark 80%
Test 4 checks exact behavior. What happens when a user deletes a notebook or their Copilot history, what Cowork can read in a file whose label applies encryption, what Cowork asks you to approve before it acts, where a setting lives, which prerequisite is missing when a feature does not appear. The questions are shorter than in test 3 but leave no room for a rough idea. 100 questions, 16 multiple-select, 145 minutes, pass mark 80%.
Exam Day: Full-Length AB-730 Simulation
100 questions · 170 minutes · pass mark 85%
The final test is the readiness check. Long scenarios with several conditions, all four domains mixed, and the least thinking time per question of the whole set. Take it in one uninterrupted sitting, after tests 1 to 4. 100 questions, 16 multiple-select, 170 minutes. The pass mark is 85%, higher than the other tests and well above what the real exam asks, because practising at home with explanations at hand is easier than sitting a proctored exam. If you reach 85% here, and your weakest domain is also above 80%, you are ready to book.

Who is this for
This practice set is for business professionals who use Microsoft 365 Copilot in their daily work and want to prove it with the Microsoft Certified: AI Business Professional certification: project and operations managers, marketing, sales, HR and finance staff, customer success teams, assistants and team leads. It also suits consultants and IT staff who support Copilot users, and students or career changers who want a first Microsoft AI credential. AB-730 has no retired predecessor, but its own outline changed substantially on October 20, 2026: building custom agents was removed, and a new domain on prebuilt agents and Microsoft Copilot Cowork was added, along with Work IQ, connectors, Notebooks, the Facilitator agent and Intelligent recap. If you studied from material written before that date, this practice set shows you where the gaps are. It is a set of practice exams with detailed explanations. It tests and explains; it does not replace hands-on practice or Microsoft's own training.
Requirements
- No certification or coding experience is needed. You should be comfortable with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams, and know everyday office tasks.
- Hands-on time with Microsoft 365 Copilot helps a lot. Without access, you can still learn from the explanations, but expect to read more of them.
- These are practice tests, not a course. Use them alongside Microsoft's free AB-730 learning paths on Microsoft Learn, not instead of them.
