AB-620 Sample Questions With Answers

About these questions

These five questions are original. We wrote them in the style of the AB-620 skills measured, spread over the three domains. They are not real exam questions, and the real exam will word things differently. Names and scenarios are invented.

How to use these

Try each question without your notes, and choose an answer before you open the explanation. Then read the explanation even when you were right, because the reason the closest wrong option fails is where the learning is. Note any skill area where you slipped and revisit it on the domains explained page.

Question 1 (Create and monitor agent flows in Copilot Studio)

An HR agent must send an employee ID to a flow and receive the remaining leave balance in return. The flow will be added to the agent as a tool. Which two elements must the flow contain? Choose two.

  • A. A Parse value node that converts the employee ID into a record
  • B. The trigger “When an agent calls the flow”, which defines the input parameters
  • C. A recurrence trigger that runs every morning
  • D. The action “Respond to the agent”, which defines the output parameters
  • E. A manual trigger that staff start from the portal
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answers: B and D. For a flow to work as an agent tool, it needs the trigger “When an agent calls the flow” for the inputs and the action “Respond to the agent” for the outputs. The flow must also respond in real time and be published. The closest wrong option is E, because a manual trigger also lets a person start a flow, but it does not expose the flow to an agent. A recurrence trigger starts a flow on a schedule and cannot receive an employee ID from a conversation. Parse value is a topic node for converting a value such as JSON text into a record, so it does not define the flow’s parameters.

Question 2 (Configure topics)

A topic named Room Booking asks the user for a room number and then redirects to a topic named Facilities Request. The Facilities Request topic needs that number and should not ask for it again. Your team prefers to keep variables scoped to topics. What do you configure?

  • A. Convert the room number to a global variable so that every topic can read it
  • B. Turn on “Return values to original topics” for the variable in Facilities Request
  • C. Turn on “Receive values from other topics” for the variable in Facilities Request, and map the value on the Redirect node in Room Booking
  • D. Ask the user again in Facilities Request and compare both answers
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: C. Marking the variable in the destination topic as able to receive values lets the redirecting topic pass a value into it, and the mapping happens on the Redirect node through the input option. The user is not asked again. Option A would work technically, but it widens the scope against your team’s preference, and a global variable cannot be converted back to a topic variable. Option B is the closest wrong option because it sounds related, but it sends a value back to the topic that redirected, which is the opposite direction. Option D adds friction for the user and solves nothing.

Question 3 (Add tools to agents)

An administrator creates a data policy that blocks the Power Platform connectors makers use as tools in an environment. A maker has an agent there that uses tools from a connected MCP server and expects them to keep working, because MCP is a protocol and not a connector. What happens?

  • A. The MCP tools keep working, because only tools added directly from a connector are blocked
  • B. The MCP tools keep working until the agent is published again
  • C. The MCP server tools are blocked as well, because they rely on Power Platform connectors
  • D. Only MCP resources are blocked, and the tools continue to run
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: C. Microsoft’s documentation states that blocking Power Platform connectors also blocks access to tools in connected MCP servers, since those tools rely on Power Platform connectors for connectivity. The maker’s reasoning about the protocol is understandable, but it does not describe how Copilot Studio reaches the server. Option B is the closest wrong option. Copilot Studio enforces data policies in real time, so there is no grace period until the next publish. Options A and D split the behavior in a way the documentation does not describe.

Question 4 (Configure multi-agent collaboration from Copilot Studio)

A support agent is connected to a separate billing agent in the same environment. A user asks about an invoice, and the support agent selects the billing agent. Which statement describes what happens next?

  • A. The billing agent uses its own orchestration to decide which of its topics, tools, and knowledge to use
  • B. The support agent runs the billing agent’s topics itself, step by step
  • C. The billing agent can pass the request on to its own connected agents, which pass it on again
  • D. The billing agent can no longer be used independently, because it now belongs to the support agent
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: A. A connected agent has its own orchestration layer. The main agent decides which agent should handle the request, and after that the connected agent decides how to use its own tools, topics, and knowledge. This is also why Microsoft notes that splitting into several agents adds orchestration hops and can increase latency. Option C is the closest wrong option, but an agent that has connected agents of its own cannot also be used as a connected agent. Option B describes a lightweight child agent more than a connected one, and option D is wrong because connected agents can be published and used on their own.

Question 5 (Evaluate agent performance)

You have a test set of 40 single-response test cases for a refunds agent. You must check that the agent runs the “Look up order” tool or the “Refund policy” topic rather than answering from general knowledge. Which test method do you add?

  • A. Exact match
  • B. Tool use
  • C. Compare meaning
  • D. General quality
Show the answer and explanation

Correct answer: B. Tool use checks whether the agent used the expected tools or topics for a test case and reports a simple pass or fail. You list the expected tools or topics per test case, and it applies to single-response test sets. Compare meaning is the closest wrong option. It judges whether the meaning of the answer matches an expected answer, so an answer can match in meaning while coming from general knowledge. Exact match requires the answer to be identical word for word, and General quality scores qualities of the answer such as relevance and groundedness without looking at which tool ran.
