The short version
Plan on 30 to 40 hours over four weeks if you already work on Salesforce, or 50 to 70 hours over eight weeks if Agentforce is new. These ranges are general estimates, so adjust them after your first practice test. Spend your time roughly in proportion to the weightings: AI Agents 35%, Prompt Engineering 20%, Data 360 Fundamentals 20%, and the other three sections 25% together.
Before you start
Do three things on day one.
- Open the Salesforce exam guide and copy the section list into your notes.
- Get a Salesforce environment where you can build an agent and a prompt template. Reading alone leaves gaps that scenario questions find quickly.
- Take a practice set cold, before revising. It is a baseline, not a verdict, and it tells you which sections need more of your week.
The general method is in how to study for IT certification exams.
The 4-week plan
This plan assumes about 8 to 10 hours a week and some Salesforce admin experience.
Week 1: AI Agents (part one) and baseline. Take a baseline practice set. Then learn how agents work, topics and actions, and the difference between Employee and Service agents. Build one small agent of each type.
Week 2: AI Agents (part two) and Prompt Engineering. Cover Agent Script basics, hybrid reasoning, deterministic behavior (filters, variables, template expressions), channels, and the Agent API. Then move to Prompt Builder: template types, access controls, grounding techniques, and the Trust Layer.
Week 3: Data 360 and testing. Study the Agentforce Data Library, chunking, indexing, and retrievers. Then Testing Center and its evaluations, and the sandbox-to-production considerations for agents and templates. Take a second practice set and review every miss.
Week 4: Governance, multi-agent, and drilling. Cover management and monitoring, analytics and optimization, MCP and A2A, and multi-agent design. Spend the rest of the week on weak spots and one full-length timed set.
The 8-week plan
This plan assumes about 6 to 8 hours a week and little prior Agentforce exposure.
| Week | Focus |
|---|---|
| 1 | Salesforce platform refresh: objects, permissions, sandboxes. Baseline practice set. |
| 2 | How agents work, Employee versus Service agents, topics and actions. |
| 3 | Agent Script, hybrid reasoning, filters, variables, template expressions. |
| 4 | Channels, security context, the Agent API. Build and test a small agent. |
| 5 | Prompt Builder, template types, grounding, Trust Layer. |
| 6 | Data 360: Data Library, chunking, indexing, retrievers. |
| 7 | Testing Center, deployment, governance, observability, MCP and A2A. |
| 8 | Practice sets, review of every miss, one full-length simulation. |
Using practice exams in either plan
- Take the first set before you revise, to measure the gap.
- Review explanations for the answers you got right as well. Some correct answers are half-guesses.
- Look at your score by section, not only the total, and move study time toward the weakest one.
- Wait a few days before retaking a set, so you are testing understanding and not memory of the answers.
- Save a full-length, timed set for the last week and sit it in one session.
Practice exams measure readiness. They do not replace the vendor’s learning material or hands-on work.
The last 3 days
- Three days out: retake your weakest section’s questions. Reread your notes on pairs of similar features, such as retrievers versus merge fields.
- Two days out: one full-length timed set. Review it, but do not start new topics.
- The day before: light review only. Check your booking, ID, and, for online proctoring, your room and equipment. Sleep. The exam day guide has a checklist.
What to skip
Do not spend time on model tuning, transformer internals, or deep Apex and Python syntax. The exam guide lists decision-making topics, and nothing in it asks you to write code.

Frequently asked questions
Can I pass with only reading?
Hands-on time is strongly advised. Scenario questions are much easier when you have built an agent and a prompt template yourself.
Which section should I study first?
AI Agents. It carries 35% and the other sections build on its vocabulary.
How many practice sets should I take?
There is no fixed number. Take a baseline, one or two mid-plan, and a full-length timed one near the end.
