About these questions
These five questions are original. We wrote them in the scenario style of the AB-100 skills measured, with the domains roughly in proportion to their weight. They are not real exam questions, and the real exam will word things differently. Product behavior changes quickly in this area, so check the current Microsoft Learn documentation if an answer surprises you.
How to use these
Try each question without notes, and pick an answer before you open the explanation. Then read the explanation even when you were right, because the reason the closest wrong option fails is where the learning is. Note any domain where you slipped and revisit it on the domains explained page.
Question 1 (Plan AI-powered business solutions)
A payroll team wants to automate a monthly task. Each timesheet row must be compared against a fixed list of rules, and any row that breaks a rule must be flagged. The steps never change, there is no free text, and the team wants results to be identical every run. What should you recommend?
- A. An autonomous agent in Copilot Studio that starts when a new timesheet arrives
- B. A multi-agent solution in which one agent reads rows and another checks the rules
- C. Standard deterministic automation or code, without an agent
- D. A declarative agent with instructions that list all the rules
Show the answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. Cloud Adoption Framework guidance says not to use agents for structured, predictable tasks that follow strict rules. Deterministic automation gives the same output every run, costs less, and is easier to test. The closest wrong option is D, because a declarative agent can follow written rules. But it relies on a generative model, so results can vary, and the team gains nothing from that flexibility. Options A and B add autonomy and coordination overhead to a task that needs neither.
Question 2 (Design AI-powered business solutions)
A Copilot Studio agent uses a Dataverse table as a knowledge source. The Department column stores the abbreviation “PS”, but the agent keeps treating it as an unknown code. A maker wants the agent to understand that PS means Professional Services. What should the maker add?
- A. A synonym for the Department column
- B. A glossary term that defines PS
- C. A trigger phrase on a custom topic
- D. A closed list entity that contains PS
Show the answer and explanation
Correct answer: B. A glossary term explains a business term or acronym to the agent when it reads Dataverse knowledge, so it is the documented route for this problem. A synonym is the closest wrong option, but it gives a column an alternative name, such as “Dept”. It does not explain what a value inside the column means. Trigger phrases route a user message to a topic, and entities extract values from user input inside topics. Neither changes how the agent reads knowledge.
Question 3 (Design AI-powered business solutions)
A field-service company builds a Power Apps canvas app. It wants to add AI Builder components that work without training a model on the company’s own data. Which two components should it use? Choose two.
- A. Form processor
- B. Receipt processor
- C. Prediction
- D. Business card reader
- E. Object detector
Show the answer and explanation
Correct answers: B and D. The receipt processor and the business card reader are prebuilt components, so they work as soon as you add them. The form processor is the closest wrong option because it also reads documents, but it needs a custom document-processing model that you train on your own forms. Prediction needs a model trained on historical Dataverse data, and the object detector needs a model trained on your own labeled images.
Question 4 (Deploy AI-powered business solutions)
A maker adds a tool to a Copilot Studio agent. The tool uses a connector that the tenant’s data policy places in the Blocked group. What happens when the maker tries to publish the agent?
- A. The agent publishes, and the blocked tool is silently removed
- B. The agent publishes after approval in the Teams admin center
- C. Publishing is blocked, and affected functionality returns errors at runtime
- D. The agent publishes, because data policies apply only to new environments
Show the answer and explanation
Correct answer: C. Data policy violations stop an agent from publishing, and affected functionality fails at runtime. Data policies apply to the environments they cover, not just new ones, which rules out D. Copilot Studio does not quietly strip the tool, so A is wrong. The closest wrong option is B: Teams admin center approval controls which apps are available across an organization, but it is not an exception mechanism for data policies. To publish, the maker needs a compliant connector or an admin-approved policy change.
Question 5 (Deploy AI-powered business solutions)
An HR policy agent shows a high answer rate in its effectiveness analytics, but many answers are rated Poor and the most common reason shown is poor groundedness. The team wants the fix that targets the root cause. What should you recommend?
- A. Rewrite the instructions so that the agent writes longer answers
- B. Raise the content moderation level for generated answers
- C. Add trigger phrases to the HR topics
- D. Improve and extend the knowledge sources so answers can be grounded in current policy content
Show the answer and explanation
Correct answer: D. Poor groundedness means the answers are not well supported by source content, so better and more complete knowledge is the root fix. Option A is the closest wrong option. Instructions shape tone and flow, but longer answers do not give the agent better material to ground on, and may add unsupported claims. A stricter moderation level filters harmful content and tends to produce more unanswered questions. Trigger phrases change topic routing, not how well generated answers are supported.
