Are you ready for DP-700, or do you only feel ready? Reading the Microsoft Learn material and watching videos builds knowledge, but the exam asks something else: can you read a scenario with three requirements and pick the one Fabric feature that meets all of them, under time pressure? This practice set answers that question before you pay for the exam.

You get five practice tests with 100 original questions each, 500 in total, written against the DP-700 study guide with skills measured as of October 19, 2026. Every test covers the three exam domains in the same proportions: implementing and managing an analytics solution, ingesting and transforming data, and monitoring and optimizing an analytics solution.

DP-700 replaced DP-203, which retired on March 31, 2025. The scope moved from Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Databricks to Microsoft Fabric only: lakehouses and warehouses on OneLake, shortcuts and mirroring, Fabric pipelines, notebooks and Dataflow Gen2, Eventstream and Eventhouse, OneLake security, Git integration and deployment pipelines. Older DP-203 practice material prepares you for a different exam, and DP-700 material from 2025 misses the newer outline items, such as Apache Airflow workspace settings.

The five tests build up on purpose. Test 1 checks single concepts. Test 2 puts them in short scenarios with features that are easy to confuse. Test 3 gives you two defensible answers and one constraint that decides. Test 4 goes into settings, syntax and limits. Test 5 is a full-length simulation with long case-style scenarios and the tightest time per question.

Every answer option has its own feedback that explains why it is right or wrong and what a wrong option actually does. Each question also has a general explanation that ends with a link to the Microsoft Learn page it is based on, so you can read further on the spot.

After each attempt, PrepKiwi shows your score per domain, so you know where to study next. The pass mark is 80% for tests 1 to 4 and 85% for test 5, higher than the real exam, because practising at home is easier than sitting the exam.

What this practice set is not: a video course, a set of exam collections, or a replacement for hands-on work in Fabric. It tests and explains; the learning happens when you follow the explanations and practise.

Groundwork: Core Fabric Data Engineering Concepts

100 questions · 165 minutes · pass mark 80%

(781/1000):

Start here, before you study anything else, and take this test cold. Its 100 questions check the core building blocks of Microsoft Fabric data engineering one concept at a time: workspace and Spark settings, Git integration and deployment pipelines, workspace roles and item permissions, pipelines and notebooks, shortcuts and mirroring, Eventstream and KQL, monitoring, error handling and Delta table maintenance. Stems are short and direct. 12 questions ask you to select two or three answers. You have 165 minutes, and you pass at 80%. That bar is higher than the real exam on purpose: practising at home is easier than sitting in a test centre, so a comfortable margin here means more in the exam room. Read the explanation for every question, including the ones you got right.

In Practice: Pipelines, Shortcuts and Eventstreams

100 questions · 165 minutes · pass mark 80%

(621/1000):

100 questions in short, practical scenarios. Each one asks you to pick between Fabric features that are easy to mix up: a shortcut or mirroring, a pipeline Copy activity or a Copy job, a tumbling or a hopping window, Admin or Member, a lakehouse or a warehouse. The mix of domains is the same as in every test, so your score per domain stays comparable across attempts. 14 questions are multi-select. You have 165 minutes and you pass at 80%. Work through the per-option feedback on the questions you missed: it tells you what each wrong option actually does, which is exactly the distinction the next scenario will test.

Trade-offs: When Two Answers Look Right

100 questions · 170 minutes · pass mark 80%

(576/1000):

In this test two answers often look right. The scenario adds one constraint that decides between them: least privilege, cost, latency, data freshness, an on-premises source, a no-code requirement or a capacity limit. Read the last sentence of each stem twice before you choose. The test has 100 questions, 14 of them multi-select, with stems that are clearly longer than in tests 1 and 2. You have 170 minutes, and you pass at 80%. If you score well here, you can read a requirement and map it to the right Fabric feature, which is the skill the real DP-700 exam rewards most.

Under the Hood: Settings, Syntax and Limits

100 questions · 135 minutes · pass mark 80%

(583/1000):

This test goes one level deeper: setting and parameter names, T-SQL, PySpark and KQL syntax, stable defaults and limits, and the order of steps in Git integration, deployment pipelines, mirroring and table maintenance. Expect questions such as which OPTIMIZE option to use, which output mode a streaming query needs, which expression reads a trigger value or which permission a shortcut requires. The stems are shorter, but the options are closer together. 16 of the 100 questions are multi-select. You have 135 minutes, which is noticeably tighter per question, and you pass at 80%.

Exam Day: Full-Length Case Simulation

100 questions · 155 minutes · pass mark 85%

(577/1000):

The readiness gate. Take it last, in one uninterrupted sitting. It has 100 long, case-style scenarios that combine several requirements and cross domain boundaries, the way the real exam does. 16 questions are multi-select. You have 155 minutes, which leaves the least thinking time per question of all five tests. The pass mark is 85%, deliberately above the other tests and above what the real exam asks, because home practice without exam stress flatters every score. If you pass this test and understand why you missed the rest, you are in a strong position to book DP-700.

What you will practice

  • Test your DP-700 readiness with 500 original questions mapped to the skills measured as of October 19, 2026 (107/160)
  • Choose confidently between Fabric options: pipelines, notebooks, Dataflow Gen2, shortcuts, mirroring, Eventstream (113/160)
  • Learn from every mistake: each answer option has its own feedback, and each question has a Microsoft Learn source (113/160)
  • Build up from single concepts to trade-offs, syntax and settings, and finish with a full-length exam simulation (111/160)
  • Spot your weakest DP-700 domain after every attempt with the per-domain score report (84/160) (spare)
  • Get faster at reading long case-style scenarios and finding the one constraint that decides the answer (102/160) (spare)

Who is this for

This practice set is for data engineers, BI developers, SQL and Spark developers and cloud engineers who are moving to Microsoft Fabric and want to earn the Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification. It also suits students and career switchers who have worked through the Microsoft Learn material and now need to check whether they are ready, and analytics engineers, architects and administrators who work alongside data engineers and need the same vocabulary. If you studied for DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer Associate): that exam retired on March 31, 2025. DP-700 is Fabric-only, so Synapse, Azure Data Factory and Databricks knowledge transfers in concepts but not in the answers. What this practice set is: 500 exam-style questions with detailed explanations that test and explain. What it is not: a video course or a replacement for hands-on practice.

Requirements

  • No paid tools needed. Hands-on time in a Fabric workspace (for example the free Fabric trial) makes the explanations stick faster.
  • The exam expects working knowledge of SQL, PySpark and KQL; you do not need to be an expert, but you should be able to read short code.
  • These are practice tests, not a course. Use them next to the free Microsoft Learn training for DP-700, not instead of it.
