Are you ready for CompTIA Network+ N10-009? Reading and watching videos only gets you so far. At some point you need to answer exam-style questions under time pressure and find out where the gaps are. That is what this practice set is for.

You get five full practice exams with 100 questions each, 500 in total, written against the official CompTIA Network+ N10-009 exam objectives (version 4.0). Every test follows the official domain weighting: Networking Concepts 23%, Network Implementation 20%, Network Operations 19%, Network Security 14% and Network Troubleshooting 24%.

N10-009 replaced N10-008, which retired in December 2024. The domains were renamed and reweighted, new topics arrived (SD-WAN, VXLAN, Infrastructure as Code, zero trust architecture, SASE and SSE, DNSSEC and encrypted DNS), and much of the old hardware and wireless standards detail was dropped. Practice material written for N10-008 prepares you for an exam that no longer exists. These questions cover the current objectives only.

The five tests get harder step by step:

– Test 1, Groundwork: one concept per question, short and direct.

  • Test 2, In Practice: short scenarios that separate easily confused concepts.
  • Test 3, Trade-offs: two reasonable answers, one constraint decides.
  • Test 4, Under the Hood: subnetting, port numbers, command output and exact values.
  • Test 5, Exam Day: long multi-constraint scenarios across all domains.

Every answer option has its own explanation. For a wrong option, you learn what that option actually is, so the distinction sticks. Every question also has an overall explanation that ends with a link to the source documentation, such as the RFCs, NIST publications or vendor documentation.

After each attempt, PrepKiwi reports your score per domain, so you can see exactly where to focus. The pass mark is 80% for Tests 1 to 4 and 85% for Test 5, higher than the real exam requires, so a pass here leaves you some margin.

What this practice set is not: it is not a video course, and it does not contain real exam questions. The real N10-009 exam also includes performance-based questions, which a practice-test format cannot reproduce. Use these practice exams to measure and sharpen your knowledge alongside the official objectives and a full study course.

Groundwork: Core Networking Concepts and Terms

100 questions · 155 minutes · pass mark 80%

Practice Test 1 is your baseline. Its 100 questions cover all five N10-009 domains in the official proportions: Networking Concepts, Network Implementation, Network Operations, Network Security and Network Troubleshooting. Each question checks one concept with a short, direct stem: which port a service uses, what an appliance does, which OSI layer is involved, what a monitoring term means. Twelve questions ask you to choose two answers.

You have 155 minutes and need 80% to pass. That bar is deliberately higher than the real exam, so a pass here means the basics are solid rather than borderline.

Take this test cold, before you start revising, and use the per-domain report to see where your gaps are. Every answer option has its own explanation, and every question ends with a link to the source documentation.

In Practice: Everyday Network Scenarios

100 questions · 160 minutes · pass mark 80%

Practice Test 2 moves from definitions to short workplace scenarios. Each of the 100 questions describes a situation in two or three sentences and asks you to pick between neighbouring concepts that are easy to confuse: DHCP relay or reservation, IDS or IPS, RPO or RTO, a rogue AP or an evil twin, a cable tester or a toner probe. The domain mix matches the official N10-009 weighting, and 14 questions ask you to choose two answers.

You have 160 minutes and need 80% to pass.

Read the explanations for every option, including the ones you got right. Each wrong option is explained in terms of what it actually is, so the distinction between the look-alikes sticks. Every question links to the source documentation.

Trade-offs: Choosing Between Valid Options

100 questions · 165 minutes · pass mark 80%

Practice Test 3 is about judgement. In most of its 100 questions, two answers are reasonable in general, and one detail in the scenario decides: a budget limit, a legacy device, a distance, a compliance rule, a no-downtime requirement or a latency target. The skill being tested is reading the stem carefully and spotting the constraint that rules out the second-best option.

Stems are longer than in the first two tests. All five N10-009 domains appear in the official proportions, and 14 questions ask you to choose two answers.

You have 165 minutes and need 80% to pass.

When you miss a question, go back to the stem and find the detail you overlooked; the explanation names it. Every question links to the source documentation.

Under the Hood: Ports, Subnets, Commands and Values

100 questions · 130 minutes · pass mark 80%

Practice Test 4 tests precision. Its 100 questions ask for concrete values and the right command: subnet and summary calculations, IPv6 address forms, port numbers, VLAN ID ranges, DHCP message order, SNMP versions, interface counters, the order of troubleshooting steps, and the output of tools such as ping, tracert, dig, netstat, arp and show commands. Vendor-specific values are always labelled as such in the question.

Stems are short but leave no room for guessing. All five N10-009 domains appear in the official proportions, and 16 questions are multiple-response.

You have 130 minutes and need 80% to pass.

Use scrap paper for the subnetting items, just as you would on exam day. Every option has its own explanation, and every question links to the source documentation.

Exam Day: Full-Length Mixed Simulation

100 questions · 155 minutes · pass mark 85%

Practice Test 5 is the final readiness check. Its 100 questions have the longest stems in this practice set: realistic tickets, log excerpts and network descriptions with several constraints at once, and topics from different domains combined in one scenario. The domain mix follows the official N10-009 weighting, and 16 questions ask you to choose two or more answers.

You have 155 minutes and need 85% to pass. The bar is higher than in the other tests and well above what the real exam asks, because a comfortable margin under practice conditions is what carries over to the testing centre.

Save this test until you have worked through Tests 1 to 4. Take it in one uninterrupted sitting, without notes. If you pass, you are in a strong position to book the exam.

What you will practice

  • Test your readiness across all five CompTIA Network+ N10-009 domains with 500 questions weighted like the official exam objectives
  • Recognise ports, protocols, appliances, cloud concepts and modern technologies such as SD-WAN, VXLAN, zero trust and SASE
  • Calculate subnets, summaries and IPv6 address forms, and interpret output from ping, tracert, dig, netstat, arp and show commands
  • Apply the troubleshooting methodology to cabling, interface, service, wireless and performance problems in realistic scenarios
  • Learn from every answer option: each one has its own explanation, and each question links to the source documentation
  • Build from single-concept questions to a full-length simulation with long, multi-constraint scenarios across all domains
  • Find your weakest N10-009 domain with the per-domain score report and target your revision where it matters most
  • Tell apart easily confused concepts such as RPO and RTO, IDS and IPS, DHCP relay and reservation, or a rogue AP and an evil twin

Who is this for

This practice set is for anyone preparing for CompTIA Network+ N10-009: help desk and desktop support staff moving into networking, junior network administrators and network support technicians, system administrators who want their networking knowledge certified, students and career changers building a first IT certification path, and IT staff in organisations that require Network+ for a role. If you studied for the retired N10-008 exam, note that N10-009 renamed and reweighted the domains and added topics such as SD-WAN, VXLAN, Infrastructure as Code, zero trust and SASE/SSE, while dropping much of the old hardware and 802.11 detail; this practice set follows the current objectives only. It is a set of practice exams with detailed explanations. It checks and deepens what you have learned, but it does not replace a full course, hands-on practice or the official objectives.

Requirements

  • Basic IT knowledge helps: how a computer connects to a network and what an IP address is. CompTIA recommends A+ and 9 to 12 months of networking experience.
  • These are practice exams, not a course. Use them alongside the free CompTIA exam objectives and a study course or book, not instead of them.
  • No lab equipment needed. A calculator is not required either: subnetting questions can be solved on scrap paper, as on the real exam.
