CY0-001: CompTIA SecAI+ Practice Tests 2026 – 300 Q
300 questions on securing AI systems, AI-assisted security, AI governance and core AI concepts – 5 timed tests
You have read the objectives and worked through the material, and the only question left is the one nobody else can answer for you: are you actually ready to book CY0-001?
These five practice tests are built to answer it. 300 unique questions, written against the CompTIA SecAI+ CY0-001 exam objectives document version 2.0, the scope that has applied since the exam launched on 17 February 2026. Every test follows the published domain weighting as closely as 60 questions allow (17% basic AI concepts related to cybersecurity, 40% securing AI systems, 24% AI-assisted security, 19% AI governance, risk and compliance) – so a weak domain shows up as a weak domain and not as bad luck.
SecAI+ is new and has no retired predecessor, which means there is no legacy question bank floating around and no older exam code quietly feeding you the wrong scope. What there is instead is a gap: the real CY0-001 is a maximum of 60 questions in 60 minutes, and practice sets built as 90, 150 or 250-question banks never put you under that clock. Test 5 here is 60 questions in 60 minutes, exactly.
The five tests climb. Groundwork asks one concept at a time. In Practice puts you in short scenarios and makes you separate the things people confuse. Trade-offs gives you two defensible answers and one constraint that decides. Under the Hood goes after implementation detail: control placement, ordering, limits, evidence. Exam Day is the timed simulation.
Every answer option has its own explanation, not just the correct one, so a wrong choice tells you what that option actually was. Each question closes with a full explanation and a link to the source it rests on. Results break down per domain. The pass mark is 80% on tests 1 to 4 and 85% on test 5, both above the real exam, because practising at your desk is easier than sitting in a test centre.
What this is not: a course, a shortcut, or the real questions. It is a place to find out what you do not know yet, while it is still cheap to find out. CY0-001 is worth preparing for properly.
Groundwork: Core AI Security Concepts and Terminology
60 questions · 80 minutes · pass mark 80%
Start here. Sixty questions across all four CY0-001 domains, weighted close to the published exam weighting (17% basic AI concepts, 40% securing AI systems, 24% AI-assisted security, 19% governance, risk and compliance) - asked plainly and one idea at a time. You will name the AI types and training techniques, tell the prompt-engineering methods apart, place a control in the right life-cycle phase, recognise the standard attacks against AI systems, and identify the responsible AI principles. Every answer option carries its own feedback explaining why it is right or wrong, plus a full explanation with a source link.
Level: foundation. 60 questions, 80 minutes, pass mark 80% (48 of 60). The pass mark sits above the real exam's on purpose: practising at your own desk is milder than sitting in a test centre, so clearing 80% here is the signal that the material has actually landed. Take this one cold, before you study, and use the per-domain breakdown to decide where to start.
In Practice: Applying Controls to Real AI Systems
60 questions · 75 minutes · pass mark 80%
The concepts, now in situations. Sixty scenario questions that put you in front of the distinctions candidates actually get wrong: data masking versus redaction, anomaly detection versus pattern recognition, data poisoning versus model poisoning, misinformation versus disinformation, policy versus procedure, low-code versus no-code. The same exact domain weighting as the real exam, and no question repeated from Test 1. The per-option feedback tells you what the wrong answer actually is, so the distinction sticks instead of blurring again next week.
Level: application. 60 questions, 75 minutes, pass mark 80% (48 of 60). Slightly less time than Test 1 - by now you should recognise the pattern in a question rather than reason it out from first principles.
Trade-offs: Choosing the Right Control Under Constraints
60 questions · 70 minutes · pass mark 80%
The test where two answers are both defensible and one constraint decides. Data residency, budget, latency, the absence of labelled data, an on-premises requirement, a human-oversight duty, an existing contract: every question carries exactly one deciding factor, and the runner-up option's feedback tells you when that option would have been the right call. This is the reasoning CY0-001 asks for once it moves past definitions, and it is the level most practice tests skip entirely.
Level: judgement. 60 questions, 70 minutes, pass mark 80% (48 of 60). Exact CY0-001 domain weighting, no repeats from the earlier tests. Expect to sit longer on individual questions here than in Test 2, and to change your mind at least once.
Under the Hood: Implementation, Limits and Sequencing
60 questions · 65 minutes · pass mark 80%
Implementation detail. Which control belongs at the gateway and which at the model, what a limit actually bounds, what has to happen first when guardrails must be revalidated after a model swap, what evidence a pipeline step produces, what a rollback trigger has to be defined against, how a classification label must carry through to outputs. Vendor-neutral throughout: no product names, no version numbers, no invented service limits, because CY0-001 is a vendor-neutral exam and anything else would go stale before you sit it.
Level: implementation. 60 questions, 65 minutes, pass mark 80% (48 of 60). Exact CY0-001 domain weighting, no repeats from the earlier tests. The questions are shorter here than in Test 3 and the clock is tighter - parameter and ordering questions are meant to be answered, not deliberated.
Exam Day: Full 60-Question Timed Simulation
60 questions · 60 minutes · pass mark 85%
The full simulation: 60 questions in 60 minutes, exactly the length and the clock of CY0-001 itself, with a domain mix close to the published weighting. Long multi-constraint scenarios that interleave domains inside a single question - a governance requirement whose answer is a technical control, an incident whose evidence spans monitoring and access control - and some detail in each stem that does not bear on the answer, because sifting the relevant from the irrelevant is part of the exam.
Level: simulation. 60 questions, 60 minutes, pass mark 85% (51 of 60). The bar is higher than on the other four tests and higher than the real exam, deliberately: this is a readiness gate, not a confidence booster. A test centre adds pressure that your own desk does not, so leave yourself the margin. Clear this one under the clock and you are ready to book.
What you will practice
- Test yourself against all four CY0-001 domains close to the published weighting: AI concepts, securing AI systems, AI-assisted security, and governance.
- Tell the AI attacks CompTIA names apart from the evidence given: prompt injection, poisoning, model inversion, membership inference, excessive agency.
- Choose between model, gateway, access and data controls when one stated constraint in the scenario decides which of them is actually right.
- Read a per-option explanation for every answer, right or wrong, so you learn what each distractor really is rather than only what the key was.
- Sit a full 60-question, 60-minute simulation in the real CY0-001 format and use your score as a readiness signal before you book the exam.
- See every result broken down per exam domain, so you know which of the four areas still needs work instead of guessing at it.
Exam domains covered
Who is this for
Security analysts and SOC staff who now have AI systems inside the estate they defend, and who need to know what a prompt injection or a model inversion attempt looks like in the evidence. Cloud, platform and DevSecOps engineers who are being asked to put guardrails, gateways and access controls around models their organisation did not build. GRC and risk professionals who have to map the EU AI Act, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and their own AI policy onto something an auditor can follow. And students, career switchers and IT generalists moving toward security work who want a measured, honest picture of where they stand.
SecAI+ is a new certification with no retired predecessor - it did not replace an older exam, so there is no old exam code to unlearn and no legacy question bank to work around. CompTIA positions it as an addition to the security track rather than a replacement: Security+ remains the foundation, CySA+ covers detection and monitoring, PenTest+ the offensive side, and SecAI+ adds the AI dimension to all of them. If you hold one of those and your work has started to touch AI systems, this exam is aimed at you.
What this practice set is: 300 unique practice questions, five timed tests, an explanation on every single answer option, and a per-domain score so you can see what to study next. What it is not: a video course, a substitute for hands-on work, or a copy of the real exam. Nobody has the real questions, and anyone selling them is selling you a problem.
Requirements
- No prior AI security experience is needed to start, but CY0-001 itself assumes roughly three to four years of IT experience and about two years of hands-on cybersecurity work.
- Knowledge at the level of Security+, CySA+ or PenTest+ helps a great deal. SecAI+ is not an entry-level certification and it does not teach security from scratch.
- These are practice tests, not a course. Use them next to CompTIA's own CertMaster material or a study guide, never instead of one: they test and explain, they do not teach the subject from the ground up.
