Are you ready for AZ-900? Reading the Microsoft Learn modules is one thing. Answering 50 questions against the clock, with two options that both look right, is another. These practice tests show you where you stand before you book the exam.

This practice set contains 250 original questions in five full-length tests of 50 questions each. They follow the official AZ-900 study guide with skills measured as of July 20, 2026, in the same proportions as the exam: cloud concepts, Azure architecture and services, and Azure management and governance.

The exam has changed since many popular question banks were written. Azure AD is now Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, serverless and infrastructure as code are on the list, and Azure Blueprints, the Service Trust Portal and the TCO calculator have been dropped. Practising on outdated material prepares you for an AZ-900 that no longer exists. Every question here uses current product names and current scope.

The five tests build up step by step:

  • Practice Test 1, Groundwork: direct knowledge questions, one concept each.
  • Practice Test 2, In Practice: short scenarios that separate services that are easy to confuse.
  • Practice Test 3, Trade-offs: two defensible answers, one constraint decides.
  • Practice Test 4, Under the Hood: limits, settings, tools and the order of steps.
  • Practice Test 5, Exam Day: a full simulation with long scenarios in 45 minutes, the real exam time.

Every answer option has its own explanation, so you learn why the wrong answers are wrong as well. Each question also has a summary that links to the Microsoft Learn page behind it.

After each attempt PrepKiwi shows your score per domain, so you know exactly what to review. The passing score is 80% for the first four tests and 85% for the final simulation: higher than the real AZ-900 bar, because the exam room is harder than your desk.

What this practice set is not: it is not a video course, and it is not a copy of the real exam. It measures and sharpens what you learned from the free Microsoft Learn training or any other AZ-900 course. Use both together and you will walk into the exam knowing what to expect.

Groundwork: Cloud Concepts and Core Azure Services

50 questions · 70 minutes · pass mark 80%

Your baseline test. Take it cold, before you review anything, and see where you stand across all three AZ-900 skill areas. The 50 questions are direct and short: one concept per question. They cover cloud models, the shared responsibility model, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, regions and availability zones, core compute, networking and storage services, Microsoft Entra ID, and the basic management and monitoring tools. You have 70 minutes, which leaves room to think. The passing score is 80%, deliberately higher than what you need on the real exam, because practising at home is easier than sitting in a proctored exam. Every answer option has its own explanation, and each question links to the Microsoft Learn page behind it. Check your score per domain afterwards: that tells you where to start studying.

In Practice: Choosing the Right Azure Service

50 questions · 65 minutes · pass mark 80%

Short workplace scenarios instead of definitions. Each of the 50 questions describes a small situation and asks you to pick the Azure service, feature or cloud benefit that fits. The focus is on neighbours that are easy to mix up: Container Instances or App Service, VPN Gateway or ExpressRoute, Azure status, Service Health or Resource Health, Azure Policy or resource locks, cool or cold storage. Seven questions ask you to select more than one answer. You have 65 minutes and need 80% to pass. Read the explanation for every option, including the ones you got right: the difference between two similar services is exactly what the real exam tests.

Trade-offs: When Two Answers Look Right

50 questions · 60 minutes · pass mark 80%

Two answers look right; one detail decides. In these 50 questions, both leading options are defensible until you notice the constraint in the stem: a regional outage, data that must stay on-premises, a workload that cannot be interrupted, a team that needs the Kubernetes API, a budget that must not stop production. The explanations name that deciding constraint first, so you learn to spot it. Topics span all three domains, from pricing models and redundancy options to RBAC scope, Azure Arc and cost analysis. You have 60 minutes and need 80% to pass.

Under the Hood: Limits, Settings and Tools

50 questions · 55 minutes · pass mark 80%

Values, limits and mechanics. These 50 questions test what happens under the surface: the six levels of the management group hierarchy, the resources a virtual machine needs, fault and update domains, storage account naming rules, lock behaviour, RBAC inheritance, the sections of an ARM template, Azure CLI and PowerShell commands, alert types and Log Analytics queries. Stems are short and precise; the difficulty is in the detail. Eight questions ask you to select more than one answer. You have 55 minutes and need 80% to pass.

Exam Day: Full-Length AZ-900 Simulation

50 questions · 45 minutes · pass mark 85%

The readiness gate. Save this test until the end and take it in one sitting, without notes. The 50 questions are the longest in this practice set: realistic company scenarios with two or three constraints each, and the three domains mixed together as on the real exam. You get 45 minutes, the same exam time as the real AZ-900. The passing score is 85%, higher than in the other four tests, because this is your final check: if you pass here comfortably, you are ready to book the exam. If you do not, go back to your weakest domain, reread the explanations and try again after a few days.

What you will practice

  • Test yourself on every skill in the AZ-900 study guide dated July 20, 2026: cloud concepts, Azure architecture and services, management and governance
  • Tell apart Azure services that are easy to confuse, such as VPN Gateway and ExpressRoute, Azure Policy and resource locks, or ZRS, GRS and GZRS
  • Learn from an explanation for every answer option, plus a summary per question that links to the Microsoft Learn page behind it
  • Build up from direct knowledge questions to a full 45-minute exam simulation with long, multi-constraint scenarios
  • Find your weakest domain with per-domain scoring after each test, and know when you are ready to book the real AZ-900 exam
  • Answer scenario questions on shared responsibility, IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, pricing models, and the right cloud model for a given business requirement
  • Practice multi-select questions in the 'Select two' style used on Microsoft exams, with feedback on every option you choose or skip

Who is this for

This practice set is for anyone preparing for Exam AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals. That includes system administrators, developers and database specialists who are starting to work with Azure; students and career changers taking their first cloud certification; and people in sales, project management, procurement or support who need to talk confidently about cloud services. It also suits candidates who studied from older material: the exam now uses Microsoft Entra ID instead of Azure AD, adds Microsoft Purview, serverless and infrastructure as code, and no longer covers Azure Blueprints, the Service Trust Portal or the TCO calculator. These tests follow the study guide dated July 20, 2026. This practice set gives you 250 original exam-style questions with full explanations. It is not a video course and it is not a copy of the real exam; use it to measure and sharpen what you have learned.

Requirements

  • No Azure experience is required. A general interest in IT, or some experience with servers, networks, databases or software, helps you get more out of the explanations.
  • These are practice tests, not a video course. Use them alongside the free official Microsoft Learn training for AZ-900, not instead of it.
  • A free Azure account is useful for trying things out, but not needed to take the tests.
