AB-900 Practice Tests: Copilot & Agent Admin Fundamentals
250 questions on Microsoft 365 objects, Entra ID security, Purview data protection and Copilot and agent admin
Are you ready for AB-900, or does the material only look familiar? Recognizing the names Purview, Entra ID and Copilot is not the same as choosing the right one under time pressure. This practice set gives you a measured answer before you book the exam.
You get five practice tests with 50 questions each, 250 questions in total, written against the AB-900 skills measured as of October 14, 2026. Every test follows the official weighting: about one third on core Microsoft 365 features and security, the largest share on data protection and governance, and the rest on Copilot and agent administration.
If you prepared for MS-900 before, be careful. MS-900 is retired and AB-900 is a different exam. Cloud concepts and the pricing and support domain are gone. In their place come Microsoft Purview Information Protection, DLP, Insider Risk Management and DSPM for AI, oversharing in SharePoint, how Copilot uses permissions and Microsoft Graph, pay-as-you-go billing, and approving and monitoring agents. Older practice material prepares you for the wrong exam. Microsoft Learn now also uses the name Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 Copilot; this practice set follows the names in the AB-900 study guide.
The five tests build up in difficulty:
– Practice Test 1, Groundwork: one concept per question across all domains.
- Practice Test 2, In Practice: short scenarios where you pick between features that are easy to confuse.
- Practice Test 3, Trade-offs: two answers look right and one requirement decides.
- Practice Test 4, Under the Hood: least privileged roles, defaults, admin center locations and the order of steps.
- Practice Test 5, Exam Day: long case-style questions in the real exam time of 45 minutes.
Every answer option has its own explanation, so you learn why a wrong option is wrong and what it actually does. Each question also has an overall explanation that ends with a link to the Microsoft Learn documentation.
After each attempt you see your score per study guide section, so you know where to review. The pass mark is 80% for tests 1 to 4 and 85% for the final simulation, higher than the real exam on purpose.
What this practice set is not: it is not a video course, it does not contain real exam questions, and it does not replace hands-on practice. It is a way to test and sharpen what you have learned.
Groundwork: Core Concepts Across All Three Domains
50 questions · 70 minutes · pass mark 80%
Start here, and take this test cold as your baseline. Practice Test 1 covers all three AB-900 domains with direct, one-concept questions: core Microsoft 365 objects such as mailboxes, groups, sites and channels; Zero Trust, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Defender XDR; Microsoft Purview labels, DLP and retention; how Microsoft 365 Copilot reaches your data; and the basics of Copilot licensing, prompts and agent management. You have 70 minutes for 50 questions, six of them multi-select. The pass mark is 80%, deliberately higher than the real exam, because practicing at home with no pressure is easier than a proctored session. Every answer option has its own feedback and every question ends with a link to the Microsoft Learn documentation, so read the explanations even when you get a question right.
In Practice: Picking the Right Feature for the Job
50 questions · 65 minutes · pass mark 80%
Practice Test 2 moves from definitions to short workplace scenarios. Each question describes what an admin at a fictional company needs, and you choose between features that are easy to mix up: a Microsoft 365 group or a distribution group, Report-only or the What If tool, Insider Risk Management or Communication Compliance, Restricted Content Discovery or restricted access control, a billing policy that exists or one that is actually connected. The domain mix is the same as in every test in this practice set. You have 65 minutes for 50 questions, seven of them multi-select, and the pass mark is 80%. Use the per-domain score at the end to decide which area to review before Practice Test 3.
Trade-offs: When Two Answers Look Right
50 questions · 60 minutes · pass mark 80%
In Practice Test 3 two answers usually look reasonable, and one requirement in the question decides between them: an external user, a missing Entra ID P2 license, a sharing link that must stop working, content that must stay protected outside Microsoft 365, or occasional versus daily Copilot use. The goal is to train the habit that matters most on exam day: find the constraint before you look at the options. The explanations say why the correct answer fits and why the runner-up does not. You have 60 minutes for 50 questions, seven of them multi-select, and the pass mark is 80%.
Under the Hood: Roles, Defaults and Admin Centers
50 questions · 55 minutes · pass mark 80%
Practice Test 4 looks at the details an administrator works with: the least privileged role for a task, default settings, where a report or setting lives, and the order of steps. Expect questions on License Administrator versus User Administrator, Reports Reader, the Microsoft Purview Audit roles, password expiration defaults, sensitivity label priority, the Microsoft 365 Copilot DLP location, pay-as-you-go prerequisites and who can approve agent requests. The time is tighter: 55 minutes for 50 questions, eight of them multi-select. The pass mark stays at 80%.
Exam Day: Full-Length Simulation
50 questions · 45 minutes · pass mark 85%
Practice Test 5 is your readiness check. Take it last, in one sitting, without notes. The questions are longer case-style scenarios with several requirements at once, and domains are mixed the way the real exam mixes them. You have 45 minutes for 50 questions, the same exam time Microsoft gives for AB-900, and eight questions are multi-select. The pass mark is 85%, higher than in the other tests, because a practice test you have prepared for is easier than an unfamiliar live exam. If you pass this test comfortably, you are in a good position to book the exam. If you do not, the per-domain score shows where to focus.
What you will practice
- Answer 250 exam-style questions mapped to the AB-900 skills measured as of October 14, 2026, across all 10 study guide sections
- Tell apart look-alike features: Microsoft 365 groups vs distribution groups, DLP vs sensitivity labels, RAC vs Restricted Content Discovery
- Understand how Microsoft 365 Copilot uses permissions, Microsoft Graph and Purview controls, and how to spot oversharing in SharePoint
- Learn from every mistake: each answer option has its own feedback, and every question links to the Microsoft Learn source
- Build up from core concepts to a timed, full-length simulation with a stricter pass mark than the real exam
- Choose the least privileged admin role for common Microsoft 365, Entra, Purview and Copilot tasks
- Know the basics of Copilot licensing, pay-as-you-go billing policies, usage reports and agent approval

Who is this for
This practice set is for IT administrators, help desk and support staff, and cloud or security professionals who are preparing for AB-900 and want to know whether they are ready. It also suits students and career changers who are starting in Microsoft 365 administration, and project leads, compliance officers and adoption managers who work on Copilot rollouts and want to understand the controls behind them. If you were studying for MS-900 (Microsoft 365 Fundamentals), note that it is retired and that AB-900 covers different ground: the cloud concepts and pricing and support domains are gone, while Copilot, agents, Microsoft Purview and SharePoint oversharing now make up most of the exam. This practice set is a bank of 250 practice questions with detailed explanations. It checks and explains your knowledge; it does not replace a course or hands-on practice in a tenant.
Requirements
- No prior certification is required. The questions are written for beginners in Microsoft 365 administration, and each explanation teaches the concept behind the answer.
- Some familiarity with the Microsoft 365 admin center, Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 Copilot will help, because the exam profile expects hands-on exposure to these admin centers.
- These are practice tests, not a video course. Use them alongside the free Microsoft Learn learning paths for AB-900, not instead of them.
